It won’t. We are responsible for taking care of our bodies. Healthcare is only there for the things we don’t plan for.

Nationalized systems stress preventive care, which includes health screenings that can find problems before they become serious, including the results of poor diet and lack of exercise. The private, for profit system discourages regular health check ups. A nationalized system will not change bad habits by itself, but it will help to point out those bad habits.

Unfortunately, yes. But they shouldn’t be.

Even though it has been shown over and over again that Americans are among the most obese nations in the world liberals still believe that people should not be responsible for themselves and the government should pay for all of their diabetes medications, their gastric bypass surgeries, their sleep apnea meds, and countless other medications when the real solution is to get off your ass and do something.

Nationalized health-care will only create and environment where people care even less about what they put into their bodies and about how much exercise they get.

This idea that you can remove individual responsibility and things will get better is asinine. As has been repeated over and over again, lines will get longer, quality will suffer, life expectancy will tumble, quality of life will implode, and your health-care and all the costs associated with it will be in the hands of bureaucrats.

I think it helps inspire people to hear their doctor tell them that if they don’t lose some weight they will die of a heart attack and then to direct them to someone who will tell them some ways to exercise and diet which they will actually be able to do.

That means training the doctors, and having more dieticians and exercise trainers available as part of the health system.

That is an important part of preventative medicine.
